Our team are passionate about helping our members work as a team and gain confidence, learning and developing new crafts and skills through sharing their experience and talent.
VICKY BYRNE
Vicky is the principal of the Young Performers, having been involved with the group from a very young age. She still performs onstage herself with a local amateur dramatic group.
Having spent many years training as a dancer and with a wide variety of dance experience under her belt, Vicky enjoys being involved in the choreography for our shows. Vicky has also been known to take on the roles of director and producer and loves the variety that being at the Young Performers gives.
Vicky’s grandma, Barbara Moran, founded The Young Performers with Tricia Freer in 1985 and Vicky is over the moon to be following in her footsteps to encourage and develop the next generation of talent.
Zak Charlesworth
Zak is the resident creative director for our productions and has recently taken on the role of leader of education lessons for our members. Zak was also a former member of The Young Performers. He has over ten years experience in the performing arts industry.
Whilst his main talent is singing, Zak is also an accomplished actor and dancer. He has performed nationally and locally, in a range of different productions, amateur and professional. Zak also organises shows and concerts which have raised money to help charitable, and mainly local, causes.

Tricia freer
Tricia is our resident acting coach. Bringing with her a lifetime of experience working with young people to develop skills such as diction, characterisation and general one to one support.
Tricia is a founder, and in 1985 with Barbara formed the group. At the time there was no money or resources so they co-wrote and co-produced two shows annually. Tricia was also heavily involved with directing drama productions at the school where she worked.
Although her role with us is a lot less hectic now, she still seems to spend a lot of time writing endless lists to ensure the smooth running of our productions.
